GPT Concierge Desk

In collaboration with BVN Architects

We took on the computational script design for the Concierge Desk in the GPT offices at Melbourne Central. The design was controlled by a series of curves that set out the nodes, or hinged joints, for the overall form of the desk, seat and canopy installation.

Through our workshop, Power to Make, each component was milled from 24mm thick Birch Plywood; the sheets were stained dark brown before milling, achieving a raw cut edge profile to contrast with the face. Each component was engraved, which became part of the aesthetic. The entire unit was installed over a single weekend to avoid any disruptions to the office.
